The Collectors Strike Back In Mass Effect 3: Retaliation Multiplayer DLC

Massive MP Expansion To Be Free Next Week

BioWare has unveiled their biggest Mass Effect 3 multiplayer expansion to date: Retaliation. Not only will this meaty content offering contain six new maps, characters, weapons and objectives, but it's also going to herald the return of the Collectors.

Oh, and did I mention that Retaliation is going to be completely free when it releases next week? Now I've got your attention...

The Collectors will act as a new enemy faction, challenging players to face off against the Collector Praetorian, Scion, Abomination, Trooper, and Captain. The other factions will also receive reinforcements, including Cerberus Dragoons and Geth Drones.

A host of new characters have joined the war to fight this new threat, such as the Turian Havoc Soldier and Turian Ghost Infiltrator, with yet more being added on a regular basis. Six new maps will be available, featuring new environmental hazards and traps, bolstered by a regular rotation of Firebases that experience different hazards as they come under attack. You'll need to survive the onslaught of Acid, Lightening, Meltdowns, Sandstorms, Swarms and Whiteouts.

The Collectors have also brought deadly new weapons to the fight: the Collector Assault Rifle, Sub-Machine Gun, and Sniper Rifle.

Retaliation will also introduce a new challenge system that logs your progress and unlocks emblems. Behold, a boring screenshot!

Not bad for free, eh? Retaliation launches on October 9th.
