The critically-acclaimed Command & Conquer series hits another one out the park with the third instalment of their original Tiberium series. With Michael Ironside and Billy Dee Williams lending some of their talent to the in-game cutscenes and voice work, with sumptuous visuals and intuitive gameplay, and with Joseph D. Kucan back in the saddle as the charismatic NOD overlord Kane, Command & Conquer 3, and its companion Kane's Wrath, proves to be just as frenetic, engaging and cinematic as all of the awards it won would lead you to believe.
The good news is that now you can pick up both the original and its stand-alone expansion pack for just £6.95 apiece from Shopto.net, giving you over 30 hours of RTS wonderment at just under £14, and besting nearest competitors such as Gamestation (offering the original for £7.99 and the expansion for £17.99) and GAME (£9.98 and £12.98 respectively).
With over 35 single-player missions to undertake, and multiplayer modes exclusive to Xbox Live, this is one game that you'll come back to again and again. Thanks to the new, improved interface, marshalling your troops has never been easier, and the adaptive AI makes for an ever-changing RTS experience that means no two games are ever the same. Kane's Wrath adds a global element not unlike that seen in the Total War games, whereby you take control of bases and mobile troops on a grander scale, diving into the fray as to lend a helping hand as and when you wish. With prices for the expansion pack in particular still hovering fairly high - and bearing in mind that on Xbox 360, Kane's Wrath is a standalone game in its own right - it's well worth snaffling a copy or two while stocks last.
