COMPETITION: Crysis 2 Twitter Party - Tuesday 22nd March

It's PARTY time! P...A...R...T...Why? Because we've 18 copies of Crysis 2 to giveaway and simply throwing them at pedestrians isn't as great an idea as one might think. So we're going to be holding something of an FPS-related night, running a poll or two, and inviting people to pitch in on one of gaming's most enduring genres and discuss why it is that we love shooting people in the face so very much.

This is how things are going to work. Every hour, on the hour, between 6pm and midnight there'll be a question going up on either the @Dealspwn or @HotUKDeals streams on Twitter. HUKD will be kicking things off at six and then alternating proceedings into the night like so:

  • 6pm - HUKD
  • 7pm - Dealspwn
  • 8pm - HUKD
  • 9pm - Dealspwn
  • 10pm - HUKD
  • 11pm - Dealspwn

All you need to do is reply on Twitter with the answer and the #winCrysis2 hashtag within the hour.

For example, if this is the question:

Win Crysis 2. Free Radical Design developed which time-travelling FPS series? Reply with answer & hashtag before midnight. #wincrysis2

If the question came from Dealspwn, then you should answer:

@dealspwn Timesplitters #wincrysis2

Or if the question came from HUKD, then answer:

@hotukdeals Timesplitters #wincrysis2

Individual question contests will last an hour, after which three winners with the correct answer will be chosen at random for each question. You can expect the 6pm winners to be announced at 7.30, the 7pm winners to be announced at 8.30 and so on. We'll be pitching in with a few off the cuff FPS queries and so on, after all this is your night. We spend all day telling you what we think, now it's your turn.

A few house rules:

  • One entry will be accepted per account per question. You're welcome to compete in all of the question contests, but the maximum you'll win is one copy.
  • One entrant per household.
  • UK entrants only.

Good luck!

Kinda wish I understood how the hell Twitter worked so I could give this a pop. I've made accounts for stuff like this but never understood how you reply or whatever the hell these kids are calling it nowadays... "trending" what the hell is that?

Shame because I really like this game. Thought the MP was excellent. A real breath of fresh air and I don't usually like FPS games.

I've got it on preorder for the 360 though. Released Friday in the UK.. could have given a copy of it to one of my mates though as I'm sure they would have been quite appreciative.

DrTrouserPlank  Mar. 19, 2011 at 12:54

Hmm... think I might have worked it out now.

Was fun last time for black ops, and the retro gaming, shame I didn't win anything. Still fun!

Rob Wain  Mar. 19, 2011 at 18:48

Okay so I'm following both hotukdeals and dealspwn on twitter and have yet to see anything to do with #winCrysis2 I don't use twitter often at all, am I missing asteo here or something?

Max  Mar. 19, 2011 at 21:47

Great so EU people are good enough to get you referrals when they order through your links, but not good enough to get a chance to win a copy of a game that is perfectly playable outside the UK?!

Matt Gardner  Mar. 20, 2011 at 04:14

No, it's all in the post above. On the 22nd we'll be running a competition over Twitter from 6pm-midnight. This is just a notification post to alert people to the date and how it'll run on the day to avoid mass confusion. The first question will go up on the HUKD feed at 6pm next Tuesday and the evening will proceed from there. Don't worry. You've not missed anything yet :)

I live elsewhere in Europe, but my parents still live in the UK and I return there often, so the address would not be an issue. Can I enter?

Jamie  Mar. 20, 2011 at 21:26

"One entry will be accepted per account per question. You’re welcome to compete in all of the question contests, but the maximum you’ll win is one copy."

"One entrant per household."

Er...so does that mean someone is allowed to make 10 twitter accounts and enter 10 times per question? As long as they're the only person in their household that enters? :S

Birdyboyuk  Mar. 21, 2011 at 23:45

Deffo looking forward to this! Perhaps I might win this time! lol

Mr1123  Mar. 21, 2011 at 23:49

Its great your doing these competitions however your limiting the number of people entering, i dont have twitter or facebook and im sure there are others like me so when are you going to think about us for a change?

dcx_badass  Mar. 22, 2011 at 00:11

I'm sorry but why would they. Running a competition in public on twitter and facebook gets them a lot of publicity. You emailing an answer gets them next to none.

Did you honestly think they were doing it out of the goodness of their hearts?

Matt Gardner  Mar. 22, 2011 at 00:31

Whilst I can appreciate your concern, we've been experimenting with different platforms for competitions and have run several onsite since the start of the year, they all offer something different. The Facebook competition, for example, allowed for a certain conversational night of nostalgia. The Twitter comps (of which there have only been about 2 or 3) allow for rapid fire questions and multiple winners. We've had plenty of positive feedback for running competitions that aren't simply bog-standard 'answers on a postcard' affairs and we will continue to try and do so.

That said, we are in no way abandoning standard competitions on the site, and there will certainly be more to come in the coming months :)

May have missed it above but what console is the prize for??

ODB  Mar. 22, 2011 at 12:55

DCX is right though tbh this is about publicity. Otherwise you would be able to enter by any other means. Like when people get an extra chance when they add to twatter/facefuck, its not about giving everyone a shot its about publicity plain and simple.
I dont use either so I cant enter...tad unfair to say the least but tbh I'm not surprised, there arent that many contributors to Dealspwn yet as soon as there is a comp its bannered up on HUKD and you get tons of people entering who've never even looked at the site. So in fairness MR1123 you are only limiting a few but your gaining many but Paul only cares about numbers so its fine

Matt Gardner  Mar. 22, 2011 at 13:33

If you win you can choose.

We'll have the console review dropping at 5 - PC one will take a little longer as it only unlocked today.

DrTrouserPlank  Mar. 22, 2011 at 17:18

Let's just be clear here.

I click reply on the tweet which asks the question. (let's say its on HUKD)
I tweet "@hotukdeals (answer) #wincrysis2"
I submit.

"Simply throwing them at pedestrians isn’t as great an idea"
Now this is my idea of a drive by experience, I'll be your target.
Plus had a shitty couple of days at work & could do with some FPS therapy.

he6rt6gr6m  Mar. 22, 2011 at 20:44

I won in the last competition on Facebook, a Mario 25th Anniversary Wii boxset. I spend a LOT of time on Twitter, so this one I'm enjoying too!

Cheers DealSpwn!

CrackJiver  Mar. 22, 2011 at 22:13

Having fun in the twitter party, nearly killed the battery on my galaxy s tweeting for a game that I already pre ordered. Going to be a prize at the next lan party if I win #ninjageeks

Sam  Mar. 22, 2011 at 22:19

People moaning about the use of facebook or twitter. What is stopping you from setting up an account just for the purpose of these comps?

Josh  Mar. 22, 2011 at 23:52

Thanks Dealspwn/HotUKDeals for the competition. I'm looking forward to receiving the game and can cancel my pre-order now :)

BaronLukeAaron  Mar. 23, 2011 at 00:39

Thanks Dealspwn & HUKD for a great evening on Twitter, two really great sites!
I have sent a DM and look forward to hearing from you in due course. Best Regards.
