COMPETITION: Win The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D!

We will be running a nice big fat competition later on this summer when our shiny new re-skin comes back out of beta, but we've been rummaging through the Dealspwn vaults and have found some shiny new things to giveaway. This week, we're going to be running a series of 3DS previews to help explain why it's not just good for using as a doorstop. Of course, loads of people (this writer included) have already taken a trip down memory lane with the fantastic Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.

If you're yet to get involved with what is quite possibly The Best Game of All Time  - which you can now play on the bus, up a tree, on top of a mountain, in a submarine, on the loo and wherever else you choose - don't fret! We've got a brand spanking new copy to give away. Check out our review of the game here!

Here's how to get involved:

  1. Tell us what you love most about the Zelda series in the comments
  2. Use a valid email address

NB. You can get a second entry if you start or participate in a Zelda-related discussion too with the same account.

...and that's it. Easy, right? If you don't yet have an account, you can set one up here. Winners will be chosen at random after the competition closes on Friday 16th July at noon.

A few little rules to bear in mind

  • One entrant per household (max = 2 entries)
  • UK entrants only
  • Ends at midday on Friday 16th July
  • Admin's decision is final

The music has to be the music. The music from the chest opening sequences gets in my head at least once a month. Anyone heard this album? http://8tracks.com/teamteamwork/the-ocarina-of-rhyme Love the Lost woods/Clipse mash up.

100% Love the OST's. The chest opening score is my personal favorite. I like to imagine it in my head when I am opening anything.

Zelda is such an emotive series, always bringing fresh life and adventure in every iteration. It'a always a great game to get your hands on when you can, explore the new version of Hyrule.

I love the fact that even though I've completed it about ten times i can still play and enjoy every minute of the game.... I also love that it was the first game I ever bought ^_^ also..... We used to have competitions to see who could defeat Gohma fastest.... 15 seconds ain't too shabby =>

I Love Link no homo required. I think everyone wants to be Link secretly apart from his squeaky squeals, has a cool sword that makes the sword in the stone look like a paper weight, travels through time via a music instrument, transforms into a Wolf amongst other things, shoots a bow that can fire bombs as well as the things that can split apples, plays an ocarina which fits in his pocket(which I own geek much), swims under water in a lovely shade of blue, doesn't fear fire wearing a lovely share of red, got a kick ass horse though i'm unsure why it's name is epona, can lift massive bolders with his bare hands by tighting his belt, never worked a day in his life via the old cut the grass while trialing your sword, loves to fish and has an impress haul, used to like masks, and being talked to by a friend call navi, also used to hunt wild skulltulas. To fish it off kills the bad guys and gets the Princess, not bad.

I'm just not that cool, It's also the only reason I still have a wii, I'm waiting on the next one If I win this will definetly be purchasing a 3DS. I still have my N64 boxed version upstairs, as well as my special edition one on the gamecube. So would be nice to play it in 3D. So I can go back in time 3D....

God, I love Zelda... first memory of it is playing the timed demo on the NES pod in Debenhams back in the day. But when I got a SNES and played a Link to the Past it was a whole new ball game. No matter whether playing one of the Zelda games on the NES, Wii, Gameboy or Gamecube, the Zelda games are engrossing: You want to know what happens next; you want to help everyone you meet; you want to defeat Ganondorf and rescue the Princess; beat that pesky dungeon! The characters are a joy: Link, Navi...even Tingle! Mini-games you while away hours on - a spot of fishing; searching for treasure or how about a horse race? Music you can't stop humming; graphics that delight and amaze. It is quite simply the best Action RPG series bar none... can't wait for the next one!

I love all things about zelda in general, but the thing i like the most are the epic boss battles!

henrixxx  Jul. 11, 2011 at 22:12

The design. Every game is just fantastically designed. The amount of work and thought process put into creating them put the majority of other games to shame.

mrzootsuit  Jul. 12, 2011 at 07:41

I love the eternal and frustratingly impossible quest to chop one of the friendly chickens in two.

anstone  Jul. 12, 2011 at 10:21

I've just introduced Zelda to my 6 yr old and she loves it (ok she does need a little help sometime) she's already picked up the tunes and hums them in the bath, so the best thing just has to be the music, favourite piece, Zelda's lullaby.

mightybobbin  Jul. 12, 2011 at 11:49

CHICKEN APOCALYPSE.

jb5  Jul. 12, 2011 at 12:51

Huge area/s to roam and explore.

artfulshow  Jul. 12, 2011 at 13:20

What I love is that it gives you hope and adventure, first stepping out onto hyrule field is mind blowing, meeting the princess is magical, riding epona is fantastic, but finally defeating ganondorf after what feels like a lifetime in the zelda universe is Epic.

Choosing what I love most about the Zelda series is very difficult, but if I had to choose one thing I'd have to say the story. The way the story makes *you* feel like *your* Link and that this is *your* adventure is a very special feeling.

I think that's the reason why Nintendo have decided to not reveal the link between all the games (pun intended!).

I do have to admit that the music comes a very, very close second for me.

Good luck everyone!

Best thing about the Zelda games?
Chocobos!

Oh. Hang on...

(If you're throwing a 3ds into the prize pool I'll have to replace this with a proper answer, naturally :P )

sourchicken  Jul. 15, 2011 at 00:29

Well, it's the fact that LINK LOOKS LIKE A GOD DAMN WOMAN.

Late  Jul. 15, 2011 at 11:18

What you love most about the Zelda games is it lets you *be* a young lad who looks like a woman? :|

danfox  Jul. 15, 2011 at 11:49

Best thing about the Zelda games - the little oddities like cuckoo death squads.

beverleykerry  Jul. 15, 2011 at 11:51

I adore Zelda. It's everything - the re-playability, the music, the graphics. Even on the N64, the graphics were well before their time. I love all the different tasks, the fishing, playing the ocarina (once you've managed to get it back off the thieving Skull Kid!), the archery - everything. I'm so obsessed, that I actually bought an ocarina and learned to play it!. I have guinea pigs named Link, Zelda and Navi and my next guinea pig will be called Epona or Majora. I have t-shirts, keyrings, badges, a Link figure....

The sequels have, unlike other games, never let it down. Each sequel has been as good as the original and there is no disappointment as there is with such as the Banjo/Kazooie sequel.

How do you explain perfection? You can't! Zelda is just what it is - the best game ever made.

raph65536  Jul. 15, 2011 at 12:01

What I love most - the Temple of the Ocean King. I think I'm the only one among my friends that loves it to bits. I just love the "if you wanna carry on, you're gonna have to go through me (the temple)" sense.

screally  Jul. 16, 2011 at 01:31

think my post was deleted? :(, I did post about Link's inefficient way of cutting grass being my favourite part, someone should buy him a flymo, swords don't work so well.

Friday July 16th... Do you mean Saturday or Friday? Saturday is the 16th. :)

What I love about Zelda is the unique atmosphere, the delightful music which embues every scene, and the wonderful sense of accomplishment when you have traversed through a difficult dungeon and entered back into the rolling green fields. I could go on and on, but I would also like to mention that I am very happy with the very memorable characters you meet on the journeys, particularly Epona. :)

Wahahahaha! Give that person a game!

For me it has to be the depth, you feel like you could keep running and you'd never run out of world to explore. Maybe one day that'll be a reality?!
