New Screenshots Prove It Handily
When fate closes a door, it opens a window. Specifically in that the PS4's PlayStation Plus freebie lineup has lost its token racing game, to be replaced by a innovative puzzle-platformer from Focus Home Interactive. This, we feel, is a change for the better.
But you don't have to take my word for it. Behold, some new screenshots, which I've compared to DriveClub directly along with some useful commentary.
Sony must be confident in Contrast's quality to support it so heavily, though remember that it's also releasing on PC, PS3 and XBLA. Matt tried it out a while back, calling it"an intriguing platformer that, in the tradition of some of our favourite titles of recent years, takes a simple core concept -- in this case the manipulation of light and shadow -- and turns it into something immediately striking, both in terms of aesthetics and gameplay." He's a much better writer than I am.
Meanwhile, the only thing he could say about DriveClub was that "it's a driving game." How very inspiring.
Without further ado, here are the screenshots. Click to embiggen.
Here we see Dawn, the imaginary friend of a lonely girl, vaulting jauntily through the city.
Here we see a car.
A magnificent orrery! What marvels await in this land beyond imagining?
This is also a car.
The interplay of light and shadow allows players to manipulate the world in exciting new ways.
There is a shadow under this car.
Dance! Dance! Caper and frolic in this wonderful new land.
You know Gran Turismo 6 has more cars and a Lunar Rover, right?
Contrast > DriveClub. QED. Hopefully it will actually live up to potential on November 15th.
