Sony have announced two new Invizimals games for the PS3 and Vita, which can be connected with cross-play functionality. Details and trailer below, along with some renders of the creatures players will discover, catch and battle using Augmented Reality.
Invizimals: The Lost Kingdom, the PS3 offering, is billed as an action adventure game that lets players directly get involved with the Invizimals world. Youngster Hiro is capable of transforming into an Invizimal himself, and will use his shape-changing abilities to solve puzzles and defeat a robot army attacking the titular Lost Kingdom. Apparently the title, developed my Majenta Studios, will "journey across six exotic worlds by land, air and sea."
Invizimals: The Alliance is more in line with the original PS Vita title, in that it allows players to hunt Invizimals in the real world using the Vita's rear camera. Once captured, players can train and battle their roster of 150 colourful critters, while designing and protecting a village to house them. Think Pokemon, basically, but with Augmented Reality.
Cross-play functionality will allow players to transfer Invizimals between the two titles, presumably finding and training them on the Vita before using their abilities to explore the world in the PS3 version.
Both Invizimals: The Lost Kingdom and The Alliance are scheduled to release later this year. For now, enjoy some screenshots and renders.
