Is Crysis 2 good?

I played Crysis 1 and enjoyed it, and I am an FPS fan anyway. Would you say Crysis 2 is as good?

I must admit to never having played Crysis (my computer is barely capable of running a complex calculation in Excel...), but I did get the chance to play Crysis 2 on the 360 and have to say I was pretty disappointed.

It looks lovely, of course, but the gameplay is a little derivative, and given that you're supposed to be the future's last hope at being a total badass, the combat gets very dull after a while.

It also seems to present you with a number of options for traversing potential battlefields, before deciding that 'stealth' route you plumped for just isn't murder enough, and throwing you back into awkward, unsatisfying cover-based combat.

There are a lot of people out there ready to disagree with me I'm sure, but it seems to me that Crysis 2 is Crysis with the freedom and fun stripped away.

It's good, certainly. The campaign is tight, focused and different each time you play - and the multiplayer is decent without really setting the world on fire.

On the other hand, it's also a massive missed opportunity. Crysis 2 is visually bland and massively derivative, with the Ceph having forgotten their super awesome ice powers that they had in the original. New York is a truly boring place to set a game... and even more snooze-worthy now it's deserted and full of brown gunk.

Crysis 1 is vastly superior, and if you haven't played Crysis Warhead, I would recommend grabbing that instead. There's nothing quite like ragging hovercrafts around on frozen tropical islands and hosing down death squads with dual SMGs. Plus, Psycho is a legend.
