UPDATE: An EA press release has made clear that Crysis will be coming as a download title to PSN and XBLA for £15.99/1600 MSP:
In October 2011, shooter fans will be able to download a modified and enhanced version of the award-winning single-player campaign from the original Crysis, remastered for console players using Crytek’s state-of-the-art CryENGINE®3 with all new lighting, effects and other visual optimizations. For just £15.99 SRP or 1600 Microsoft Points, gamers will download the most robust and exciting Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network game to date. - EA Press Release
Since rumours and ratings practically outed Crysis console ports a while ago, we daresay that this news won't come as a surprise to anyone. However, for completeness' sake, it's worth noting that Crytek has officially confirmed the move - with the original Crysis being set to launch on PS3 and Xbox 360 "next month". This new version will apparently feature "improved lighting" alongside a number of tweaks, though many of these new features are probably designed to make Crysis run faster, not prettier.
Gametrailers have an exclusive look at the Xbox 360 version, which we've included after the break.
Frankly, we're overjoyed by the move. The original Crysis is superior to its sequel in practically every way - especially in terms of art direction that encompasses lush jungles, ice scapes and alien insanity. Plus, Crysis 2's storyline will make slightly more sense.
