Crysis Maximum Edition | £3.75 | Gamefly | PC

This is a rather excellent deal for the complete Crysis experience, with Gamefly’s offer being the lowest we’ve seen in a long time. Over £2 currently separates their listing from the next best coming from CoolShop.

The Maximum Edition includes the original release of Crysis, its sequel Warhead, and the multiplayer component Crysis Wars. Although its sequel was good throwaway fun, Crysis was more of a well-rounded & open experience, and if you’re looking to put your gaming rigs through its paces this is definitely the way to do it. GAME are currently offering the complete Crysis experience for the same price as a standard copy of the game. There is currently a price difference of just under a tenner over ShopTo’s download price, but the trade-off is a wait of 2-3 days for it to be dispatched.

For my money, the original Crysis beats its sequel hands-down. Huge open spaces and massive bases (complete with enormous enemy numbers to match) can be countered with a variety of different suit powers and tactics. Seriously, no two games are ever quite the same, and the scope for new styles of play and desperate invention is staggering.

Oh, and the graphics are pretty good too. Considering that you'll get a physicl copy rather than a download, Bee.com's price is rather nice.

Crysis | £2.49 | Steam | PC

If you missed the almost-as-cheap deal for this one during the summer then don’t fret, as Steam’s daily deal has brought Crytek’s shooter down to its lowest price yet. The offer will have you saving more than you are paying, with a margin of over £3 next to Bee’s next best price for what is still considered a graphical powerhouse of an FPS. Although its sequel was good throwaway fun, Crysis was a more well-rounded and open experience, and if you’re looking to put your gaming rig through its paces this is definitely the way to do it. Remember, this deal will expire at 6pm today! Thanks to IanFTW @ HUKD!

Direct2Drive’s summer sale continues, and while there are a few cheap titles up for grabs (you can see the full list here) the clear highlight as far as deals go is Crysis. If you happened to miss out on Tom’s now out-of-stock deal a few days ago for the Maximum Edition and were still after a copy of Crytek’s gun-based island adventure this should pique your interest. The graphical powerhouse of an FPS is going for under £4, giving you a saving of almost £3 in comparison to the next cheapest store over at Simply Games. Although its sequel was good throwaway fun, Crysis was a more well-rounded and open experience, and if you’re looking to put your gaming rig through its paces this is definitely the way to do it. Remember, this deal will expire at 5pm today!

ea week - steam

Throughout this week Steam will be slashing their own (often ludicrous) prices on a number of EA titles, opting for a different deal each day. We'll be letting you know each day whether or not the deal in question is worth your hard earned cash, sometimes we're here to bust open pseudo-deals and expose them for the laughable charades that they really are. View this post as more of a heads-up, and check out the image above or hit the link below to see if there's anything coming up that might tickle your fancy.

Head over to Steam's EA Sale by clicking here

As far as we can tell, the week's going to run something like this:

  • Monday: Crysis
  • Tuesday: Battlefield: Bad Company 2
  • Wednesday: Command and Conquer
  • Thursday: Racing (Need For Speed?)
  • Friday: Mirror's Edge, Dead Space and Spore
  • Saturday: Mass Effect
  • Sunday: Dragon Age

ea week - crysis

Today's 'deal' is 50% off of Steam listed prices for Crysis and Crysis: Warhead. Well...that's the idea. A quick link to Steam and a simultaneous little hop over to any price comparison engine will tell you that today's stellar deal is rather less than stellar. Part of the problem is with Steam's RRP, they never seem to depreciate, or rather they just kind of make them up to fleece unsuspecting internet shoppers bewitched by the slick shininess of the site, hence why both of these titles are selling for £9.99 today, which is frankly extortionate. You can pick up the original game for just £5.10 at Tesco if you've yet to use the FTSL15-1 code, or a mere £6 if not. The expansion can be picked up for £6.85 from ShopTo, although it is worth noting that the best price for Crysis: Maximum Edition (alternatively titled The Box Of Convenience) is £4 more than what Steam are offering here for buying both games together(£14.99).

There will always be people who simply cannot wait 24 hours for express delivery and want their games immediately or space-conscious gamers who prefer downloadable titles simply because they're fed up of buying extra shelves. I for one have no space to store any socks anymore simply because all of my drawers and shelves are stuffed with game boxes.

We're not here to judge.

Give a3lawy at HUKD some rep for getting there first.

Crysis: Warhead £6.99 @ The Game Collection [PC Games]

For just a penny more than the cheapest used copy I have been able to find, you can get your hands on a brand spanking new copy of Crysis: Warhead from The Game Collection. It's the best price I have seen for the game and undercuts the next best (£9.87 from 101 CD) by nearly three pounds.

Warhead is an expansion to the original Crysis but also a standalone game in its own right and you don't need to have the first title installed in order to play it.

The action of Warhead runs parallel to that of Crysis but this time the narrative follows Sgt. Michaels Sykes, aka "Psycho", a Delta Force operator whose brash chap who does his best to live up to his charming nickname. The game follows Sykes as he  accidentally stumbles upon an antique alien ship while on the search for a nuclear missile, and then gets captured and tortured by the North Korean army. So, very reminiscent of Hello Kitty Roller Rescue then.

Crysis: Warhead is pretty damn close to impeccable in lots of ways. It more than lives up to expectations for graphical beauty and thankfully this time it does require a complete PC upgrade just to run the damn thing.  Crytek have also amped up the action in the game but without any dumbing down; combat is tight, intense and thrilling and the enemy AI has been given a bit of an overhaul (though still leaves a lot to be desired).

With a big world to keep you busy and some great multiplayer options, Crysis Warhead is pretty sweet value for money and well worth investing in if you're a PC gamer.

Crysis Maximum Edition £9.98 @ Gamestation [PC Games] photo

Crysis is one of the best first person shooters out there; Marius, our resident PC game nut, swears by it and pretty much all of us here at dealspwn are anticipating the new instalment more than a little eagerly. The next best price is only a couple of pounds up, at £11.98 from Game but after that you're looking at prices of £16 and above.

This "Maximum Edition" comprises all the episodes currently available in the Crysis story, so in addition to the original Crysis, you also get the parallel adventure Crysis Warhead and multiplayer game Crysis Wars.

Crysis places you into the boots of an elite Special Forces soldier, Nomad, who has been sent to investigate the takeover of a remote island by North Korea. Meanwhile Crysis Warhead casts you as Psycho, as he works through a number of missions on the other side of the island in parallel to the travails of Nomad.

Part of what makes this game so great and pushes it apart from the crowd is the awesome nano suits which basically turns your team into a superhero squad. Each squad gives you access to four special abilities: super strength, super speed, a super shield and super stealth. This can help you out of many a sticky situation and makes the game a real blast to play.

Crysis Warfare is every bit as enjoyable as its predecessor and the multiplayer bonus of Crysis Wars allows you to play through a selection of excellent co op missions or death matches. All in all this is a brilliant little package and a complete bargain at this price.

Crysis Warhead £9.95 @ The Game Collection [PC Games] photo

The excellent standalone expansion to the original Crysis is well worth its bargain price tag for anyone who is a fan of PC shooters.
The Game Collection's bargain price beats 101 CD's second place price of £14.77 by nearly £5 and is also part of their 3 for £20 deal!

While it expands upon the original Crysis, you do not require the first title installed to play.

Like Crysis, Warhead takes place in a futuristic setting in which an ancient alien vessel has been discovered deep underground, below an island near the Phillipines. In the main campaign, players take on the role of Delta Force operator Sgt. Michael Sykes, better known as "Psycho". Timewise, the action runs parallel to the original Crysis narrative, with events occurring on the other side of the island.

Crysis: Warhead has received lavish praise from virtually every corner. Crytek have built upon the original title and answered every criticism with great improvements. Combat is intense, tight and engaging, often thrilling. While you will definitely need your brain switched firmly to the "On" position, the game is beefier and more action packed than its predecessor. The enemy AI has been much improved, though is still far from perfect. Though no longer state of the art, the graphics are still very pleasing and make for enjoyable, smooth play.

There's plenty of replay value with sandbox gameplay and an engaging new Team Instant Action Mode with improved multiplayer maps and gameplay.
