"It Belongs At Home With Its Creators"
Many ex-Vigil Games employees were quickly snapped up by Crytek after THQ collapsed, who plan to bid on the Darksiders IP once it goes up for final auction.
"Going to bid on Darksiders IP," tweeted Crytek USA chief David Adams yesterday. "Put 7 years of heart and soul into that franchise, and I think it belongs at home with its creators."
“When the Darksiders IP goes up for auction, Crytek will be bidding for it," former Vigil Games, current Crytek developer Ryan Stefanelli confirmed to Destructoid. "Not much more to say since the rest is left up to courts and legal shenanigans, but we’re all excited at the prospect.”
Considering that Crytek are actively looking to focus on Free To Play over the coming years, it's likely that they're only bidding on Darksiders to defend the IP. But it's always nice to have a critically acclaimed license in the bag for a rainy day. We suspect that their Vigil Games recruits will be invaluable as far as still-AWOL hack & slash title Ryse is concerned.
