Crytek have leapt into the social market, providing backing to browser-based streaming service Gface, and the service has launched its closed beta. You can get involved here.

Gface purports to be both social network and streaming games service all in one: a cross-platform social network with an eye towards covering both casual and hardcore spheres, offering both 2D or 3D gamescombined with the networking potential of a social network. Games are delivered through a plugin based on the "Seed Engine," enabling installation-free, streaming gameplay.

The company blurb is as follows:

Our mission is to design an innovative high quality social media publishing service. We are a small team with big ideas, but backed up by a well known critically acclaimed game studio: Crytek. We share not only technology and vision, but the commitment to deliver the highest possible quality.
