We Dance Features Revealed

Nordic Games announced We Dance at the end of last month, promising an old-school dance mat experience brought up to date with new music, bells and whistles. They've now dropped us a line to reveal some new features, such as warm-up sessions, stats, leaderboards and party games. It'll be the "most rewarding and realistic" dance game on the market, apparently. Full details below.

Dance games have persisted and outlived other forms of rhythm games (which are just slumbering at the moment), though the competition from Just Dance, Dance Central and Activision's recently-revealed Dance Hero is extremely fierce. Nordic Games are confident that We Dance will break ahead of the pack with a number of new features.

We Dance is more than just a straightforward dance game as these features prove. The genre is ready to be taken to the next level and this announcement today, along with our future plans, will demonstrate that we’re a step ahead in the music and dancing game genre. - Nik Blower, Nordic Games sales and marketing director

Nordic confirm that up to four simultaneous players will be able to use any combination of WiiMotes and specially-designed Dance Mats to boogie along to 40 professionally-choreographed hits... but that "warm up sessions" and a "dance school" tutorial mode will allow us lumbering amateurs to gear up and get used to the new mechanics. Following a song, players will be ranked based on their performance along with specific tips to improve their moves, and online leaderboards providing a competitive edge. Your stats will be saved and ranked for posterity and shame.

A selection of party modes (including ‘Jump’, ‘Step’ and ‘Pose’) contains four seperate minigames each, which we assume will heavily involve jumping, stepping and posing (well, duh) rather than sticking to the set routines. A 'Dance TV' mode will also allow players to sit back and watch the videos or jump up and get their freestyle on.

Nordic Games will be announcing the full track list and launch schedule very soon, and we'll keep you up to date with the latest.
