Dark Souls II Release Narrowed To Spring 2014

Dark Souls II has received a release window, courtesy of a great big honking banner set up in Downtown L.A. [spotted by NeoGAF poster Gribbix]

March 2014. See you next year.

Carl has been playing through Dark Souls for the first time recently and enjoying it in the main - he may even tell you about it if you ask him nicely.

I'd be interested in Carl's reflections. Dark Souls tends to draw love it/hate it responses, so something from nearer the middle of the spectrum would be interesting to hear

If he could rap about it that'd be even better...

Fear not, I'll be regaling my time in Lordran with my warrior McGarnagle (who else?) very soon once I've had some more time to tackle the rest of it (I'm currently at the Four Kings, for those in the know.)

A rap may or may not be a part of said coverage, we'll have to see...

You're that far already? That's no meagre feat. Two-hand blitz is the way forward there.

The game is a grower. Was awesome the first time I saw Anor Londo. Be careful of the invading phantoms mind.

When you see a Japanese guy do a speed run of the game in 35 mins approx, you know there's no such thing as 'too hard a game'...

FROMSOFTWARE continuing to churn out garbage games on a consistent basis.

I don't know what is worse really. The fact that after three attempts they still can't make a decent game, or that people are lapping this rubbish up as if it's revolutionary game design. It's not revolutionary at all. A terrible game that is difficult is still a terrible game. That's always been true.

Couldn't agree with you more.

Making a game difficult through sheer **** game design, can never be considered in any sense of the word, a good design philosophy.

If people want to pretend to like the game, out of some misguided elitest attitude, then you're doing nothing but kidding yourselves.

There are plenty of games that are difficult, without having to resort to making the control systems/game mechanisms purposefully ****.

Love these games but each to their own.

As for difficulty, hmmm, well they really aren't that difficult. I'm a very average gamer and I've beaten them (Demon's & Dark) yet have failed to beat Ratchet & Clank (the first one).

Loved the beta btw, roll on March.
