Last month, we alerted you to the news that From Software was holding a Dark Souls competition wherein future owners of the game could design a shield from three pre-set templates, with the winning designs chosen by the developers making their way into the game itself. Well, the organizers have sifted through a load of submissions and announced their favorite today.
The winning design, dubbed 'Sanctus' by its creator, Uru, sports a white, gold and blue color scheme with an almost pearlescent finish. Tendrils of gold squirm on the edge of the classic shield model, meeting in the middle where a raised golden center is patterned with a blue finish. A blue symbol has also been added to the shield's jutting bottom.
Over 1,000 designs were submitted, but it was Uru's functional creation that pipped them all. Uru's shield is now in the process of being modeled, rendered and then included in the final Dark Souls game, so look out for it when you're cowering behind yet another ruthless demonic attack.
