Despite being a fairly recently released title and one that has garnered generally positive reviews, third person action adventure Darksiders is one of those games that seems to just keep falling in price all the time and is already available very cheaply.
At its listed price of £14.98, Gameplay are selling the game for at least £2 less than anyone else for either console. The next cheapest price for either console is £16.99 from HMV (PS3, XBox 360) who are sweetening the deal with an incredibly tacky looking free 2010 calendar, umm, yeah, nice one guys...
In a game that begins at the world's end, Darksiders casts you in the role of War, a member of the Charred Council—a body charged with maintaining the delicate balance between Heaven and Hell and coordinators of armageddon—and one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. When War accidentally makes a bit of a booboo and ushers in the apocalypse a little earlier than he was meant to, he destroys all of humanity and rocks the balance between dark and light.
Darksiders offers you a vast and beautiful world to explore, packed full of challenging but enjoyable puzzles and plenty of fast and satisfying battles. Sure, it's not the most original of games, feeling weirdly like a mix of God of War and the Legend of Zelda games (which frankly sounds like a selling point in itself) but it's a fun game and has enough going for it to prevent it from seeming purely derivative.
