Darksiders is the closest we've come to a full-blown next-gen Zelda with a mature slant, and while THQ's action-adventurer had its faults, it had enough promise and commercial value to convince Danny Bilson and co to greenlight a sequel, due in 2012. And now, thanks yet again to another Game Informer cover story, we have a few brand new details to go off.
As previously reported, Darksiders 2's story no longer centers on Horsemen of the Apocalypse, War, but his blood-brother, Death, out for vengeance. Surprisingly, he's also on our sides, backing humanity in the colossal heaven versus hell stakes, but he'll run into some trouble in the form of a mysterious "ancient grudge".
THQ promise a "dramatically larger world", hopefully building on the Metroidvania approach originally sought, weapon and armour upgrades, much more expansive dungeons and, of course, a slew of new demons and the like to tear apart. We hope to see more on Darksiders 2 at E3 this month. [Eurogamer]
