Yoshinoro Ono took to the stage at the New York Comic-Con yesterday to announce that Darkstalkers would be making a return next with a couple of classic re-releases, and hinted at the possibility of a brand new game too.Darkstalkers Resurrection will launch in early 2013 for PSN and XBLA, and will contain re-releases for Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge and Darkstalkers 3.
Capcom have given the two classic fighting titles a bit of a modern polish, adding in a few features such as achievement/trophies, a spectator mode, the ability to save and share replays with YouTube integration, expanded online matchmaking options, and a challenge mode for testing your skills with each character.
Better yet, it looks as though Resurrection might be the first step towards a new Darkstalkers title, should it do well, with Ono demonstrating a "Darkstalkers Are Not Dead" teaser that you can see below (courtesy of SUPERSTARX).
"Ono has a dream of revitalizing the Darkstalkers franchise, and this is the first step to get there,” Capcom producer Derek Neal of Capcom told Joystiq. “[Ono] wants Darkstalkers 4.“
