Dead Block Dated And Trailered For XBLA & PSN

Dead Block, the upcoming zombie defence title from Candygun Games, has been given a firm release date for Xbox Live Arcade and the Playstation Network. We have the full release schedule after the break - as well as a new trailer that showcases the interesting and varied ways in which you can dispatch the undead hordes.

According to Candygun Games, Dead Block will be hitting XBLA on July 6th, followed a fortnight later by the July 20th PSN release. It's set in the idylic golden age of the American 1950s, where (as always) zombies appear to ruin the perfect apple pie and white picket fence suburbia. Players will assume the role of one of the last survivors (Boy Scout Mike Bacon, construction worker Jack Foster, and intimidating traffic warden Foxy Jones), with the objective being to fortify your neighborhood and lay traps for the undead hordes. Dead Block's art style and tone will be purposefully campy... so without further ado, why not check out the trailer for yourself?

Digital Reality, Dead Block's publisher, is keen to stress that this new title will be more creative and imaginative than most zombie defence games - and that it's more than just a cynical attempt to cash in on the zombie fad.

We’re a huge fan of zombies, but we’re even bigger fans of finding the most creative ways of disposing of the undead buggers. Dead Block has been a dream project of ours, and we’re elated to finally unleash it upon the world. - Balazs Horvath, Digital Reality Director of Publishing

I'm far from convinced.
I'll give it a trial, but we've all played this game so many times before, just with different graphics... :\
