Dead Island Riptide: Zombie Bait Edition Is A Bust

Comes With 12" Resin Statue Of A Headless Beach Babe

Deep Silver have unveiled their "strictly limited Dead Island Zombie Bait edition of Dead Island Riptide" today, showing off a collection that will include the special Steelbook edition of Dead Island Riptide, collectable artwork cards, and an exclusive pack of weapon mods.

There's also a twelve-inch resin bust of a mauled female torso in a bikini, or what we've colloquially named 'zomboobs' to reflect the main purpose of the statuette. Deep Silver themselves suggest that the centerpiece be looked upon as "a grotesque take on an iconic Roman marble torso sculpture".

Grotesque indeed. I wonder where we'll rank it in our Worst Gaming Marketing Campaigns shortlist.

"Dead Island Riptide is one of the most anticipated releases of the year and is set to build on the original’s reputation for OTT action, dark humour and brutal zombie bashing," said Deep Silver's Sales & Marketing Director, Paul Nicholls.

"We wanted to provide a unique collector’s edition that was utterly 'Dead Island' and would make a striking conversation piece on any discerning zombie gamer's mantel.”

The emphasis is on the "strictly" part of limited edition, not surprising considering that all of the busts are hand-crafted. Dead Island Riptide will be released on April 23rd in North America, with the game hitting these shores on April 26th.

It's certainly unique.

Combined with their ridiculous wedding-ruining competition, it'd probably edge out Daikitana. The catchphrase and posters were the only cool and memorable thing about the entire game...
