Axis, the award winning UK based animation studio, and Deep Silver are probably jumping around with their hands in the air, as they celebrate the Dead Island announcement trailer winning Gold at the Cannes Lions International Festival Of Creativity.
I don't think it should come as that much of a surprise to you, because lets face it as soon as the trailer starts you know you're watching something special and it rightly deserved to snatch the winning spot from the hundreds of other entries in the Internet Film category.
Now to put this into perspective for you, this is THE festival for celebrating creativity in communications from around the world, which goes to show just how much of an impact a video game can have in this day and age.
The award was collected on Saturday 25th June by Deep Silver's Georg Larch and Anton Borkel, whilst Axis' Executive Producer, Richard Scott had this to say:
We are overwhelmed to see the Dead Island trailer pick up an award as prestigious as the Cannes Lions.
Scott then went on to praise the hard work put in by the team behind the trailer:
It goes to prove that the dedication shown by director Stuart Aitken and all of the Axis team has really paid off. I also want to give credit to all the Deep Silver team because without their daring strategy and belief in what we could do this project could have been so different.
I've got to say that as a massive zombie movie fan, it was the announcement trailer that piqued my interest in the game and now I can't wait until it comes out in September! If you've not seen the trailer yet, then take a look below to see what all the fuss is about!
