Dead Space 2 | £3.74 | GamersGate | PC

Fear, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder: meaning that your tolerance to scares dictates whether Dead Space 2 is a solid action game or a fantastic horror experience. Either way, we can all agree on the fact that it’s great; improving on its predecessor with varied backdrops, new necromorphs and greater scope for gory shenanigans. We reckon that Isaac’s new cliched gravelly voice is a step backwards, though.

Oh, and £3.74 is hella cheap. Weekend deal only, so get on it.

I can't quite work out what GamersGate is, do they give you a Steam code or are they trying to compete with Steam and Origin and have yet another program to install?

They're basically just a straightforward shop - pure and simple. Once you buy a game, you'll be able to download an installer, which will allow you to download the game itself. It's a temporary .exe that can be deleted afterwards, so no, there isn't a client.

They are trying to compete with other online platforms, with a fairly impressive degree of success. The lack of a dedicated client probably helps.

DRM depends on the individual games and their publishers. In this case, Dead Space 2 uses Solidshield.
