Visceral Games, developers of the much-lauded Dead Space franchise and Dante's Inferno, have advertised for a new role at the studio to begin work on a "bold new IP". The role in question is, in fact, that of the Executive Producer, who'll lead and oversee all of the development. It's a very senior position which demands a candidate with considerable experience, so all you young upstarts grabbing your resumes and XNA demos off the desktop can stop now!
Details are scarce in the job listing. In fact, all that can be gleaned is Visceral and EA are planning yet another mass-media assault, akin to Dead Space, which has flourished not just as a videogame, but in the comic-book and anime genres, too. On the listing, Visceral state they want a candidate who can "grow the game into a successful franchise capable of multiple versions".
So what might this bold, new title with the potential to grow into multiple version be? Well it's not unclear right now. I'd have thought EA had tasked Visceral with a follow-up to Dead Space 2. In fact, they've already mentioned that particular franchise is due a third installment to reach true mass-market potential. But Visceral has proved, in the wake of losing Glen Schofield to Activision where he formed Sledgehammer Games, that they can adequately carry the mantel and deliver shockingly good experiences. So more is expected of them now. [Gamasutra]
