If you're still slogging across the Sprawl in Dead Space 2, hands trembling, a hammer hid underneath the sofa - just in case, mind - then you might not want to know that the not very reassuringly titled DLC, Severed, is due for release today on Xbox LIVE and the Playstation Network. And already Visceral Games is mulling more DLC depending on "player's appetites".
In the meantime, fans can check out Severed, which switches perspective from fan-favorite Isaac Clark to Extraction's Gabe and Lexine. We're big fans of Extraction at Dealspwn - it's a surprisingly solid shooter, one of the best on the Wii - so we couldn't be happier to see its leads making a return. The story runs parallel to Isaac's original adventure, with Gabe running a security job on the Sprawl. Then all hell breaks loose when the Necromorphs decide to start murdering and slaughtering and assimilating, and Gabe must strive to escape with Lexine.
It promises to be another dread-soaked, sweat-slick adventure with a few "twists and turns" here and there, albeit in bite-sized form. Don't expect a ten hour experience, here. But if Severed is received well and - more importantly - sells well, you can expect to see much more Dead Space in the coming months. What's that? You haven't even played Dead Space 2? Well you really should. [Rely On Horror]
