Deadfall Adventures Announced By Painkiller: Hell & Damnation Devs

"Discover The Little Indiana Jones In All Of Us"

The Farm 51, the studio behind Painkiller: Hell & Damnation, have revealed their next project as Deadfall Adventures. This action adventure throws players into dark forbidding jungles in the search for loot and infamy, marrying traditional FPS combat with puzzle solving and exploration.

A little like a first-person Uncharted, if you will. More details and trailerbelow.

Here's a dense gobbet of stodgy exposition for you to chew over:

The year is 1938. James Lee Quatermain is a man of many talents, yet holding on to money isn't one of them. Quatermain isn't all too keen on escorting Jennifer Goodwin, a US agent and former colleague of his, to an Egyptian temple complex in order to retrieve an ancient artifact - The Heart of Atlantis. Neither does he believe in the reputed invigorating qualities of this artifact, nor does he care that a division of the Ahnenerbe, the Nazi department specialized in the occult, is after The Heart as well.

But life has its ways of changing one's perspective. Quatermain soon finds himself part of a hunt across the globe - from the stormy deserts of Egypt to the icy depths of the Arctic and all the way to the steaming jungles of Guatemala.

In the long-forgotten temple complex, the thrill of the chase awakens the true adventurer in Quatermain, as he and Agent Goodwin strive to be one step ahead of the Nazis and the Russians, one step closer to obtaining the Heart of Atlantis. And deep in these temples, where age-old guardians awake from their eternal slumber, James soon learns that his great-grandfather's stories are not as crazy as he had always believed. For all things live forever, though at times they sleep and are forgotten.

Players will battle natural and supernatural enemies from a first person perspective, while countering "fiendish puzzles, deadly traps and stunning set pieces." The Farm 51 are aiming for a relatively lighthearted tone, somewhere between a Saturday morning cartoon and bombastic action film.

“Deadfall Adventures marries the ethos of the Saturday morning matinee with the Summer blockbuster to create an original adventure which will grip players from start to finish,” says Klemens Kreuzer, Managing Director at Nordic Games. “We’re putting players into the heart of the action, just as they’d dreamed as children, staring at their heroes on the silver screen. It’s fantastic to be working on Deadfall Adventures with The Farm 51 from the roots up; it’s going to be an exciting summer.”

“We’re thrilled to be working on our second project alongside Nordic Games,” says Wojciech Pazdur, Development Director at The Farm 51. “We’re putting everything into the games’ stunning graphics to create a unique experience that will be both challenging and engaging. The great thing about Deadfall Adventures, it makes us discover the little Indiana Jones in all of us.”

Deadfall Adventures will launch on July 30th 2013 for PC and Xbox 360. We'll follow its progress over the coming months.

May want to update that to Deadfall Adventures... we've already got Dreamfall coming soon (Kickstarter FTW)
