You took the chip upgrade? lol - I always wondered what that would do. (I knew it'd be detrimental, and thought it'd probably mean losing some augments at some point, but never tried it out!)

The first time I fought Jaron I brought the automated turret down the elevator with me - after setting it to attack enemies of course. Might you be able to do likewise? It'll likely involve going back to the previous save point - and you'll need the turret to be "alive" and you'll need to be able to access it (Can you hack if your augments are off? Are the augments off just for the boss fights?)

I'm guessing typhoon's disabled if you have no augments. Shame, as typhoon makes mincemeat of every boss with about two hits.

If all else fails and you've got a save in Hengsha you might want to consider going back and not getting the chip. Means re-doing the shipyard area of course, but it might be worth it. If you're struggling against Jaron due to augment deactivation then I'd imagine you're going to have similar problems later in the game...

Sorry that I can't actually offer practical advice regarding taking the guy on without your augments!

The only way I could defeat him without augments was by hiding against the cover of one of the corners, while he was close to the cover opposite me (ie. The area is essentially a massive square, and I was at the bottom right corner of the square behind cover, while he was near the top right corner of the square). This made him hide behind cover, and the battle played out similar to Revolver Ocelots MGS1 boss battle, but with me repeatingly shooting him in the head with a sniper.

I was an idiot and took the chip as well. Defeated him really cheaply by running and gunning the whole thing and saving every time I even did a jot of damage! If you find yourself without augments, the best thing to do is to make sure that you have a boatload of weapons and ammo with you...there are a few weapon spawns in the room itself, but they're not enough.

I went in with the laser cannon, a shotgun, SMG and pistol and just about made it, but you're going to limp through. Wait for him to come to you, dodge his attacks and blast him as much as you can before he starts attacking again and then run. Repeat ad infinitum.
