Rockstar: Deleted GTA Online Characters Are Lost Forever

If you lost progress or accidentally overwrote your character during the shaky Grand Theft Auto Online launch, I'm afraid that you'll never get them back.

Rockstar confirmed that lost characters and progress are impossible to restore by way of a new Newswire post, but hope that a hefty in-game currency cash injection will be more than enough to apologise.

"For those asking about their lost characters or rank, those will not be able to be restored so we sincerely hope that this cash stimulus we’re giving out this month will help you get back on your feet or to make your new life in Los Santos & Blaine extra sweet," Rockstar explained.

So there, basically. Carl and Matt have been delivering some anarchic video footage direct from Grand Theft Auto Online, pending a full review of GTA V's ambitious multiplayer suite. Check out their antics here.

They think 500,000 gta$ is going to compensate everybody for their losses? My game became corrupt, and it erased the entire contents of my garage. Including my tuned XF, banshee, bikes, and other cars. Approximate loss, 1.2 million.

No rockstar, it doesn't cover it.

Not sure how best they could fix it, but the $500k is definitely not ideal.
I've not played online a great deal, and have amassed only approx $80k. Aside from problems getting through the first race I've had no real problems online, and have lost no characters/properties/vehicles etc.

So now I'm going to be neck and neck with folk who've played loads and lost the lot? Nice boost for me, but totally unfair.

I believe I am a very patient person. When the online issues hit (day one)!i figured they will fix it eventually and kept playing the story line. Days and days went by then nothing. Finally able to do first race then freeze. Deleted character do race again freeze. Character deleted again force to again do race again if you lucky. Waited a week tried again able to complete race then freeze. Character deleted. Do everything again freeze. Wait some days try again character not deleted but now have a bladed female with a mans body. Then I delete myself. Try again able to finally play for a moment until I try to actually a mission freeze. Today the servers are down I guess. Screen says saving failed - unable to connect to the Rockstar game services. I assume that means I can okay but nothing will be saved. I guess 500,000 will make it all better. That is until our characters are deleted again and we possibly lose the money. I guess it is back to storyline mode again....
