One of the best things about Dishonored is the way in which the world of the Empire of the Isles, and Dunwall itself in particular, is crafted. Given the opportunity to revisit it, lead designer Harvey Smith is unsure whether he'd grab the opportunity or look o close "the vault door".
"Part of me would love to see future games leverage this world," he told Kotaku, "and part of me would love it if the vault door was just closed and that's it. This is your one view into the Empire of the Isles and into the city of Dunwall."
We'd understand his decision either way. Having given Dishonored a 9/10 in our review, we'd love to return to that world, but equally there's always the possibility of potentially tarnishing something exceptional with a follow-up. For every Half-Life 2 there are innumerable games like Perfect Dark Zero and, dare we mention its name, Dragon Age II.
