Diablo III Exploit Creates Invulnerable Wizards

Diablo III's latest glitch allows players to make their Wizard characters invulnerable, resulting in several hours of death-free item farming on the hardest difficulty modes. What will this mean for the Real Money Auction House?

According to a bug report thread [via Kotaku], users have been employing a simple five-stage technique for at least twelve hours already.

  • Step 1: Select Teleport - Fracture. Bind it to a key
  • Step 2: Select Archon, tested with Improved Archon
  • Step 3: Hover your mouse over or near your charcter
  • Step 4: Press Teleport
  • Step 5: QUICKLY(!) Press Archon

I'm getting mixed reports suggesting that this exploit has now been fixed, but I'd suggest that you don't try it just in case Blizzard decide to wield the banhammer down the line.

The presence of this exploit is embarrassing enough, but the full consequences have yet to be seen. The Real Money Auction House is already heaving under a massive influx of new incredibly rare items, delivering a blow to Diablo III's economy from which it could take months to recover.

Are Blizzard getting off too lightly?
