Diablo III: Reaper Of Souls Teaser Site Opens

Expansion Reveal Imminent?

Blizzard has deployed a teaser site for something called Diablo III: Reaper Of Souls just in time for Gamescom, which currently only displays a mysterious quote from the Book Of Tyrael. Since Blizzard have already confirmed that we should expect some Diablo-related news at next week's convention, the smart money is on the first expansion pack getting a full reveal.

Anyone up for some rampant unfounded speculation? 'Reaper Of Souls' suggests that, perhaps, an avatar of Death could become a major enemy this time around, or perhaps an angel. As far as I know, there isn't a Prime or Lesser Evil responsible for death. Any takers? Naturally we'll keep you up to date with all the news from next week's expo.

Diablo III met with a decent critical reception last year despite plenty of fan backlash against a horrible launch and some of the more controversial gameplay systems (most of which worked pretty well in our opinion). Its short runtime and relative lack of endgame content means that an expansion is definitely going to be welcome news.

You know, when we're not playing Torchlight II mods.

Or Van Helsing, which I played at the weekend and really enjoyed. At least with VH I didn't have to play the same game 3 times just to get to the challenging levels. Ok it isn't a massive game, but nor is Diablo 3. :P

Yeah, we got a kick out of VH at review. Looking forward to seeing how it develops as a franchise (in effect it will add up to one boxed RPG-sized game as you take your save files through).

About time they have started on expansion packs. The story of D3 ended on a bit of a cliff-hanger, it left me wanting more... (not to play the game again on PS3!).

Hope this is DLC at last!
