Mass Effect 3 is due for release this year, and to meet this deadline Bioware has enlisted the help of fellow EA developers, DICE, to assist in development of the game's slew of weapons, factors such as bullet damage and ballistics, as well as environmental damage and acoustics. With Bioware making great strides with their combat system, adding DICE's own unique experience in crafting well-designed shooting mechanics can only help make Mass Effect 3 a far smoother, more refined and enjoyable experience.
Despite being hard at work on their own big-budget blockbuster, Battlefield 3, DICE is no stranger to lending a helping hand in outsource development within the EA hierarchy. They helped Criterion develop the exterior locations in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, and the motion-capture system utilized by Fifa, ANT, was implemented by DICE themselves, and is being included in their upcoming Battlefield 3 title.
