No Differences Between PS3 & Xbox 360 Versions Of Crysis 2, According To Crytek

Whenever a big-budget, multiplatform title nears its release date, the inevitable debate always occurs; does it look better on the PS3 or on the Xbox 360? Well, in the case of Crysis 2, you won't notice the difference. That's according to developers Crytek, who told the Playstation Blog you'd be hard-pressed to find any "meaningful differences" between the two.

That's in stark contrast to a recent IGN article, where they state Crysis 2 on the PS3 is "underwhelming", has a "choppy frame-rate" and "messy shadows". I've seen footage of Crysis 2 on the PS3, and having played it on the 360 myself - where I was mightily impressed - I can't tell the difference. I'd have to examine the two, side-by-side, to determine any negligible differentiators, but so far I'm pitching my tent on Crytek's side for this one.

This comes just a day after John Carmack's comments where he claimed the PS3 is "better than anything, except maybe the Xbox 360". As you can expect, forums were in an uproar with fanboys left, right and center either glorifying or condemning Carmack's remarks. Even when it's quite obvious he's pandering to both sides!

I find it incredible boring to compare multiplatform releases. Although maybe it's because I usually know which side I'm going with; I favor 360 versions, often because they're in better shape than their PS3 counterparts - although this gap is getting smaller - and I like the stability and features on LIVE. However, when it comes to exclusives I'm much more partial to a Sony blockbuster. But, alas, to each their own.

What do you guys think? Does Crysis 2 look better on the PS3 or 360? Let's stoke the flames! [Playstation Blog]
