DOTA 2 is now available to everybody on Steam

Just in time for Wraith-Night

After a huge closed beta where invitations seemed to multiply in Steam inventories like it was going out of style, Valve have finally decided to unleash its free to play MOBA DOTA 2 to everybody. All you have to do is go to the Steam page for the game and hit Play - you'll begin downloading the client and be ready to join the ridiculousness as quickly as your internet will allow

With the Wraith-Night event now in full swing, and with the new player experience recently revamped to allow newcomers to learn the ropes without being subjected to vasts amounts of hilarious abuse, this could be an ideal time to get involved and begin learning how to carry and deny. This also means that I will almost certainly have to give this the Dealspwn Playthrough treatment sooner rather than later, so be on the lookout for that.

I thought this had already happened months ago. All my DOTA 2 invites disappeared from my steam inventory months ago. In fact I'm certain it's been free to play for several months.

It did happen months ago, unfortunately Dealspwn is about 4 months behind with the news.

Today marks the official end of the queuing system and massive server updates. DOTA 2 has been freely accessible to most for some time, but not all.

Oh your right Jon, went on last night and there is "official" news about it.

Good luck to any people starting playing, if you new my advice is.

1. Play the tutorials (you have to I believe anyways).
2. Find some easy hero's to play first, read some guides.
3. Understand the different classes (Support, Carry, Initiator, etc.) they all have different roles and play styles.
4. Use the in game guide (top left when game starts, there is a book, click that, select a guide).
5. Use bot matches to practice new hero's.
6. Turn off Auto Attack.
7. Don't die..

Important :- Whatever you do, use your keyboard to cast abilities and use items. If your clicking on the icons at the bottom of the screen during battle you will die quickly.

Finally it's not about personal scores; it's a team game. :D
