First Stretch Goal Also Met
It’s been quite the eventful weekend for Red Thread Games with good news all round. The Kickstarter target of $850,000 for Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey was met after just 10 days of crowd funding, ensuring that the game will see the light of day. However, early this morning the first stretch goal of $900,000 was also hit, and as the title “Apples & Penguins” strongly suggests, it means that Dreamfall Chapters will also be releasing on Mac and Linux systems.
In a statement on the Kickstarter page, the team at Red Thread Games thanked those who had pledged thus far for their “amazing support” before promising “to make the best game we can possibly make, one that lives up to your expectations and the legacy of The Longest Journey saga.” You can see a video statement from Ragnar, Martin and Dag from development team by clicking here.
The next stretch goal at $950,000, titled The Loremaster, will add in a feature to the game where players will help rebuild the Great Library of Marcuria by finding and collecting books scattered all over the world of Arcadia. Should pledges reach the $1 million mark, Red Thread Games will not only add in more side quests to create “A Longer Journey,” but promise to bring back Abnaxus of the Venar, a key character from The Longest Journey who helped heroine April Ryan.
With 20 days still left to go, prospects of more features and content look extremely likely, and with confirmation of support for Mac and Linux systems as well as PC, it could see a sudden resurgence of pledges. We’ll be sure to keep you up to date with the latest developments as the Kickstarter campaign progresses.
