EA Buys KlickNation, Renamed BioWare Sacramento

Merges Into BioWare Social

EA is continuing its aggressive push into social gaming territory with the aqcuisition of KlickNation: the studio behind Superhero City, Age of Champions, Starship Command and Six Gun Galaxy. They've been renamed BioWare Sacramento, and merged with BioWare's social gaming squad to form BioWare Social.

BioWare Social plans to focus on social network-based RPGs, so considering the BioWare branding, we can probably expect some cross-platform franchise collaboration for future AAA releases. We'll keep you posted, and we're looking forward to seeing whether these tie-ins will unlock items and perks in the main game.

We're not entirely sold on the idea of EA handing out the BioWare brand left, right and centre, though. The BioWare brand is an important part of our shared gaming history, and we're not sure why KlickNation can't keep their established identity.
