SimCity Singleplayer: EA Reveals Offline Passes [APRIL FOOL]

"Freedom Passes" Unlock Solo Play For One-Off Payment

After heeding calls for SimCity to feature an offline mode, EA have revealed that this functionality will soon be added to the controversial always-online title. However, you'll need to pay $10 for the privilege, to offset "associated transfer costs."

"We 're thrilled to announce the new 'Freedom Pass' programme for SimCity," EA spokesperson Avril Furst writes in a new press release. "Fans have been clamouring for us to add singleplayer to this multiplayer-only franchise, and once again, we have listened. For only $10, you'll be able to take your regions offline, and enjoy this brand new solo experience without having to connect to the internet."

"We're delighted to bring even more new and exciting features to the SimCity brand, and all for such an affordable price."

This echoes the recent EA financial report, which mentions "offline passes" being rolled out for major multiplayer titles, alongside "enormous money showers" for senior executives.

More details are available on the official site.

Not to be too sceptical but does anyone else think that EA had this 'charge extra for single player' idea since day one? I'd like to know what's involved in the transfer process that costs $10!

The thing is, this sounds like a typical EA move. I'm not surprised it fooled people!
