Famitsu has the latest on Earth Defence Force 4, which is set to follow in the schlocky stylings of its predecessor. Expect new classes, new bugs and big robots galore.
Better yet, we've got an official trailer after the break. You know the chant by now.
Earth Defence Force 4 is set eight years after EDF 2017, ignoring the Western-developed spinoff Insect Armageddon. After managing to rebuild following the Ravager alien attacks, humanity is beset by yet another wave of alien beasties who hibernated and bred underground, thus sparking off another war of the worlds.
Players will be able to control traditional Rangers or new Wing Divers: female shock troopers who use a jetpack to fly around the levels and wield an enormous alien railgun.
Apparently "large numbers" of players will be able to get involved online, which should work well with the hectic gameplay. That said, they'll need to ensure that the engine is up to it this time.
Enemies include familiar Spiders, Ants and Hectors, who are looking especially snazzy.
No word of a Western release date yet - though the official site suggests that it's coming in 2025. The alien apocalypse, that is, not the game.
