EA's Project RedLime To Be Revealed At GamesCom?

EA's oft-rumored Project RedLime might finally draw back the curtain this month, with developers Starbreeze seemingly prepping an announcement for their rumored Syndicate reboot. That's according to Rickard Johnson, who works at Starbreeze and today tweeted that at an upcoming press event they would finally be unveiling their long-awaited title. But what press event might that be? Why, GamesCom, of course. And who's going GamesCom, you ask? Us; that's who!

"Grand moment approaching. The reveal for Starbreeze and EA’s Project RedLime. Time to meet the press." That's Johnson's tweet, and it's very easy to put the corresponding dots together. EA and Starbreeze will be unveiling Project RedLime at GamesCom this month, putting an end to years of secrecy and widely reported turmoil.

But what is Project RedLime? Is it an all new IP, or - as many expect - a reboot of Peter Molyneux's classic Bullfrog title, Syndicate? It would appear to be the latter, what with Starbreeze filing Syndicate-related patents last year, and a script-leak last month revealed even more details that would appear to suggest this is at least set in the Syndicate universe

We'll all be trawling the floor at GamesCom, bringing you up-to-the-minute coverage on all that's on show, and you can count on us to get you the latest news on Project RedLime when it's finally unveiled. [VG247]

Please be Syndicate. Please be Syndicate. And please don't screw it up if it is. Too many remakes/reboots are screwups. Same goes with films. Anyway, fingers crossed.

I have faith in Starbreeze. Riddick was a fantastic game, so was The Darkness. Dark Athena not so much, but still pretty decent. This project looks to have had a rocky road thus far, but considering EA have kept the faith, that's a very good sign
