Epic Games Snaffles Up Ex-Kingdoms Of Amalur Devs, Forms New Studio

'We Were Glad To Help Keep This Great Team Together'

Epic Games has formed a new outfit, Impossible Studios, out of ex-Big Huge Games employees who found themselves out of a job after completing Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning. They'll be hard at work on Infinity Blade: Dungeons, the latest in the hit iOS series.

They also have the best logo ever, ever.

Impossible Studios already has some impressive names under its belt thanks to the Big Huge Games connection, making them veterans of Rise of Nations, Catan, Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties and Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning. The latter game proved to be successful despite the eventual financial collapse of 38 Studios, leaving Big Huge Games' future in doubt. Luckily, Epic has come to their rescue.

“We were so glad we could help keep this great team together, and we’re lucky to have them,” gushed Epic Games President Mike Capps. “At the time, I said that finding a full team of superstars was ‘impossible’ and apparently the name stuck! Pairing the imagination and experience of Impossible with Epic’s technology, IP and resources makes for a business greater than the sum of its parts.”

“Epic Games has truly embraced this stellar collection of developers who were displaced by the closing of Big Huge Games,” added Impossible Studio director Sean Dunn. “They have looked after us with complete care, giving us all the tools and resources we need to make a lot of gamers happy.”
