Job Listing Spills The Beans
An Epic Games job posting has revealed that they're working on an as-yet undisclosed competitive multiplayer game underpinned by a strong progression system.
"Epic Games is looking for a Systems Designers to join one of two projects," reads the listing. "One of the teams is working on an unannounced competitive online action game that includes player progression, heavy itemization, and a dynamic economy; the other is for Fortnite."
"In either of these roles you’ll be working on the biggest most important systems and will have a hand in designing everything from economics and itemization to balancing combat mechanics. You’ll be responsible for general design, balance, rules, interface, etc. and will play an integral role in defining the outcome of the project."
The ad also demands "experience with advancement, itemization and progression based systems."
That's currently all we know about the mysterious project - there's little indication of platforms or even genre beyond "Shooters, MMO’s, RPG’s, or RTS games." The "dynamic economy" does have F2P written all over it, though.
Fortnite, on the other hand, is slated to be the poster boy of Unreal Engine 4, offering players a cooperative zombie-slaying experience with fort-building elements. Wait, Fort... nite. Now I get it.
