I try not to be negative about a game I've not played, but! I loved Syndicate and Syndicate Wars, as they were highly atmospheric RTS hybrids with a dark sense of humour. By making the series into an FPS they've taken away the hook and everything it's known for. I really think it should have gone the route of the Warhammer 40K RTS if they wanted to bring it up to date and still appeal to modern game players.
I posted this on the previous thread on this reboot:
"If they wanted to pay homage to the original game I wouldve thought they would include at least part of the top down strategy side of the original game..
How about this, similar to how Battlefield works with the commander view why not have the game work as a top down strategy game (as per the original) but have the option to take control of an operative during the mission so you can play as a FPS? Then you would have the best of both worlds, and would be supporting the faithful as well as giving them an interesting new spin on the game. This would also be a kick ass multiplayer option as you could have one player working as the "commander" and up to 4 players working as the "agents", with suitable punishments if they dont follow orders
yes it would be a hell of a lot of work to make it work, but it would be an exciting and original game as opposed to just another Deux Ex wannabe"
