Microsoft has already delivered a number of XBLA exclusives to reward their loyal fanbase suffering through a decidedly unpredictable summer break. The likes of Bastion, From Dust and Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet have all hit the market in recent weeks, but Microsoft has today moved to reassure fans that those looking for Kinect exclusives on XBLA will have their hopes fulfilled in due course.
"Obviously we have Xbox Live Arcade exclusives running through the Summer of Arcade programme, but yes, you can expect far more exclusives coming to the platform in future," Microsoft's Robin Burrowes told CVG. "Talking more specifically, expect to see more from us as Microsoft studios as we leverage the power of Kinect; expect to see a number of Kinect Arcade titles coming. We're targeting a frequency of about one a month from the Xbox Live Arcade portfolio that will have Kinect integration. That will really be powerful and differentiate the platform."
However, Burrowes was keen to stress that Microsoft won't simply be abandoning their core audience for Kinect mini-game excursions. Just as their doing with their traditional retail strategy, Microsoft is looking to find the perfect middle-ground between the core and the experimental Kinect. "But you can also expect also to continue to create the traditional, core games - particularly sequels of successful titles on the platform coming very soon indeed," he promised.
Burrowes did admit the initial Kinect line-up didn't properly "demonstrate" how well you could integrate Live into the experience. Microsoft's upcoming Kinect roster looks to be a step above the last, and Burrowes hopes fans will appreciate the improvements. "They're really going to peak that connectivity between more obviously." [CVG]
