Sony's last chance to wow us in 2014 - what we need from the PlayStation Experience!

The PS4 has sold like hot cakes this year, but there's no denying that Sony's first-party output has been less than stellar. Supporting the PS3 so well during its final year left the biggest new-gen games deep in development, leading to a lacklustre Christmas lineup bolstered by third-parties.

2015, however, is going to be a different story. The likes of Bloodborne and Uncharted 4 are on the way, and Sony has one last chance to wow us this year with their PlayStation Experience event. Stuffed full of livestreamed panels and events, we're all technically invited, even if you can't make it over to Las Vegas this weekend.

You can find the panel and livestream schedule here, but some new announcements have also been teased. Here's what has been confirmed, what we currently expect, what we desperately want and a bit of wild theorising too.

What We Expect

David Jaffe's New Project: David Jaffe has been teasing... something... by means of a hidden trailer in official PlayStation Experience marketing materials. We can assume an announcement, then, potentially for a game called 'Haunted.' What it actually is remains a mystery.

Another Uncharted 4 tease: Naughty Dog will be celebrating their 30th birthday at the event, so you can bet that they'll show off something or other.

Street Fighter V: The cat's out of the bag now. Though this will probably be revealed at the Video Game Awards,we reckon that that Sony will want to flaunt their latest coup.

Something "unexpected" from Sony San Diego: Can you expect the unexpected? We do. Especially since Sony San Diego have literally told us that they're bringing something to the PlayStation experience that isn't baseball-related.

More Morpheus: Sony's VR headset blew my mind, kinda literally. Check out our Project Morpheus preview here.

All this confirmed stuff!

  • Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
  • The Order: 1886
  • Bloodborne
  • Until Dawn
  • Dragon Ball Xenoverse
  • Mortal Kombat X
  • No Man's Sky
  • Resident Evil Revelations 2
  • Batman: Arkham Knight
  • Tearaway Unfolded
  • The Witness,
  • Amplitude
  • Battlefield Hardline
  • Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin.

What We Want

Sony's last chance to wow us in 2014 - what we need from the PlayStation Experience!

New God Of War: Sony Santa Monica have already teased a "special guest" for their panel, and we're hoping it's Kratos. Well, really we're hoping it's an awesome new Egyptian or Norse character, but we'll take what we can get.

Titanfall 2: This one's interesting. Respawn Entertainment are attending the experience, and considering that only the first Titanfall was Xbox exclusive, perhaps they're ready to show something off? More likely they're just planning to make some negotiations behind closed doors.

New Crash Bandicoot or HD collection?: Rumours have been circling for months, especially after Activision seemingly lost the IP. This could happen, though frankly, Crash was rubbish compared to Spyro. There. I said it.

DriveClub's PS+ version release date... or release: Now that the challenges are fixed, it makes sense for Sony to claw back some goodwill.

More WipEout, dammit: Sony heartbreakingly closed Liverpool Studios, but we live in hope.

Loads of Vita games: After shafting the poor ol' Vita at Gamescom, here's hoping they start pushing it hard now that PS TV is out.

What We Desperately Crave, Most Likely In Vain

Well, miracles do happen at Christmas...

The opening keynote is 1½ hour long so it should be similar to the E3 and gamescom press conferences in terms of content and announcements.
