Fable Anniversary plants its acorns in the stagnant UK Charts

Another slow week sees only a single new release enter the UK Games Charts, though "new" is arguably a relative term since Fable Anniversary is a remastered version of Molyneux's  2004 RPG. Still, it looks like the heady dose of nostalgia is resonating with UK gamers, thrusting straight into third place ahead of Tomb Raider's Definitive Edition. It's an impressive feat from the Xbox 360-exclusive remake, though unsurprisingly the usual suspects FIFA 14 and Call Of Duty: Ghosts still reign supreme.

Otherwise the same old faces jostle for position, enjoying the lull before the oncoming storm. With Thief, Castlevania: LoS 2, Lightning Returns, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and the delayed Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare all releasing before March, expect these charts to look very different in due course.

UK Charts: Week Ending 8th February, 2014 (previous chart position in parentheses, links to reviews where appropriate)

  1. FIFA 14 (1)
  2. Call Of Duty: Ghosts (2)
  3. Fable Anniversary (new)
  4. Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition (1)
  5. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes (5)
  6. Grand Theft Auto V (8)
  7. Battlefield 4 (4)
  8. Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition (7)
  9. Killzone: Shadow Fall (10)
  10. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (6)

Interesting. If you plant those acorns, do they grow into trees later in life? Also, are there dragons?

Peter Molyneux... ultimate hype machine!
