Fallout 3 £9.93 @ The Hut [PS3 Games]If you missed on the last Fallout 3 deal – written up by Tamsin on 11th April – then there’s another opportunity to get your hands on this epic action RPG for just under a tenner. The Hut currently have copies going for £9.93 which beats the next best price by just over £2 – but unfortunately this deal only applies to the PS3 version of the game.

Fallout 3 casts the player into the role of a survivor born into a community of refugees who have managed to endure the effects of nuclear fallout hidden away in an underground vault. After a breakout by their father for reasons which are initially unknown, the player is then able to escape from Vault 101 and explore the Earth’s surface. And while the game’s main narrative thread concerns this quest for information about their father and their family’s past, the player is also free to explore the environment and undertake a plethora of interesting side quests.

The environment itself is called the ‘The Capital Wasteland’ and is essentially the ruins of Washington DC. Unlike other games like Borderlands, Fallout 3 contains a staggering degree of detail and depth. The various locations, settlements and characters are extremely diverse, as is the terrain which varies from ruined urban centers teeming with super-mutants, to swathes of barren desert filled with dangerous radioactive creatures. It’s a game which can be initially quite hard to get into, but once you do, Fallout 3 immerses you in a virtual world so fascinating that it can become difficult to summon up the enthusiasm for work or social interaction. Indeed it becomes an obsession – so just make sure you remember to eat.
