im going to cheat here and say Final Fantasy Tactics. It takes the sky pirates of FFXII, but has a much better sotry than any of the others and is one of the finest JRPSGs of all time!

@Goitishhhh It's only the very early PlayStation 3's that have backwards compatibility. None of the later ones are able to play any PS1 or PS2 discs.

On topic, has to be VII for me as well! :D I've spent hours on Dissidia as well if that counts.

Got to be Final Fantasy VII for me. Ambitious, intriguing, and as damn near perfect as a JRPG has ever (and possibly WILL ever) come. It's a cliche to spout its praises these days, but having started yet another playthrough fairly recently, I can confirm that it has withstood the test of time, as well as the relentless fanboyism.

There are aspects of it that are still only now making themselves known to me. An absolutely outstanding achievement.

what he said! Lost months of my life to this game. Never played an RPG like it since nor invested so heavily time time wise in any game.

Yup. 7 for me too. I'm still amazed that they haven't done a graphically updated release yet. Fans would lap it up.

8 for me. Die hard FF fans hate it. but I loved it. I liked the junctioning system and the soundtrack was amazing. Pretty annoyed that it can't be played on a PS3 (incompatible) but they've got it on PSN... very convenient..!

Oldmanhouse, the PS1 disc works just fine on a PS3.

For me it's FF8 too, with FFX just behind it. The game's story and themes make it rise above all other games in any series for me; the Waltz to the Moon scene is my favourite scene in any game by far, and so incredibly impressive for a game of its time.

The platinum re-release of FF8 works fine on PS3s, but not the original for some reason
