The much anticipated sequel to F.E.A.R. 2 came as a disappointment to lots but seems to be loved by equally as many fans. All in all, the consensus seems to be that this is a game that does not quite match up to its predecessor but is, nonetheless, enjoyable in its own right and well worth playing. It's easier to justify shelling out for this game when you can get it for just £9.99 from TheGameCollection.net - a third of what everyone else is charging! The next best price I have found from a merchant with the title in stock for the PS3 is £31.96 from Gameseek meaning that you save a pretty damn awesome £21.97!
The original F.E.A.R. was a great game, despite its insistence on including that most overdone of horror clichés - the Mopey Little Girl With Lank Dark Hair Covering Her Oh-So-Pale Skin. Many were thrilled by its clever and exciting blend of horror and first person shooter gameplay and eagerly awaited the second instalment. Thankfully, while Project Origin definitely does not quite hit the benchmark set by the original, it is still plenty of fun and vastly enjoyable.
The horror aspect is a tad disappointing, with nothing new or particularly unpredictable to cause real scares but there are still some pleasingly creepy set pieces. The shooting element fares far better, being solid and satisfying. If you enjoyed the original then you are bound to have fun with this (and if you've never played F.E.A.R. before then, hey, you have no expectations to fulfil!) and for under a tenner it's hard to complain!
