Despite the fact that Fifa 2007 is now well out of date, you can’t really go wrong for £1.60, which is what the game will currently set you back on Amazon. Described as not just ‘a good game but a great one’ by a highly enthusiastic, but fairly old, IGN review, you know it’s worth a punt at this price. So if you’re interested stop wavering and get in there whilst stock lasts.
Fifa O7 brought many welcome improvements to the franchise. Issues such as poor ball physics and ‘scoring sweet spots’ as they were known which consistently plagued prior Fifa editions have been almost completely phased out by Fifa 07. Scoring is now much more dependant on tactics and skill, with goals deriving more from passing and creating space rather than taking advantage of poor in game mechanics. There’s also an inbuilt management system which, although it lacks the depth of football manager titles, still provides an entertaining new dimension to Fifa’s gameplay.
On the downside the game is quite unrealistic in the sense that it’s very high scoring. Also, according to its IGN review, the goalies make far to many mistakes and often stupidly fumble the ball or fail to stop some easily deflectable free kick. A few Amazon reviews also laid into the game regarding bugs and the lack of dedicated patches available, however on the whole, the reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, and this deal seems like great value for money.
