Even casual fans of football with a passing interest in the sport must have realized they were witnessing something incredible on Saturday night when the two best teams in the world met in Wembley for the Champions League Final. Barcelona's comprehensive victory over Manchester United was such a fearsome display of attacking craft, I immediately hopped back on Fifa 11 and set up the same match on Exhibition. The result? I lost, two goals to the none. I was Barca. Failure aside, with the football season well and truly over for another year, why not feast your eyes on the latest screenshots plucked from Fifa 12?
Showcasing a variety of teams in action, Fifa 12 looks very much like the past few games in football's biggest videogame franchise. Which is no bad thing, by any means; Fifa has always been a beautiful series, we're just pretty familiar with it all by now. Hopefully EA have spent the last year improving some of the less aesthetically correct player likenesses.
If you're not too pleased with these banal screengrabs, may I turn your attention to the link highlighted here. This internal EA showcase leaked a few weeks back, and shows the great strides forward EA is taking with Fifa 12. It's comforting to see the mega publisher isn't pulling a PES and resting on its laurels after a victorious year; they're taking the series ever forward, widening the gap between themselves and their Japanese counterparts.
