New Modes, Controls & Features
FIFA 13 will be a Wii U launch title, complete with a host of unique features including asymmetrical five-player multiplayer and gamepad functionality.
“We challenged our teams to develop innovations designed specifically for the Wii U, and to create new ways to play that would bring players of all abilities together,” said Andrew Wilson, Head of EA SPORTS, during last night's showcase. “Our teams have truly delivered creative new football experiences with FIFA 13 and Madden NFL 13 for the Wii U.”
FIFA 13 will feature a number of Wii U-specific a cooperative mode that sees one player acting as a manager (armed with the Gamepad), while four other players get involved on the pitch. Should you want to get more directly involved with the Gamepad, it's touchscreen will act as an "interactive radar" to direct your players, while gamers can lift and look through the GamePad touch screen to aim the ball on set pieces and penalty kicks, then put the perfect curve on a shot and let it fly. Shaking the GamePad will activate "Touch Screen Shooting," removing the element of ‘hit and hope’, and allowing for pinpoint accuracy.
