Final Fantasy VII PC Re-Release Confirmed

Jonathan Lester
Final Fantasy VII, PC games, Rumour control, Square Enix

Square Enix may not be willing to fully remake Final Fantasy VII until they've managed to release a superior current-gen game, but the rumoured PC re-release has been been confirmed today. According to the official website (which is currently taking an absolute pounding), this new version will contain cloud save functionality, achievements and a cheeky “Character Booster.”

Interestingly, though, the re-release will apparently only be available via the official Square Enix store, despite the initial rumours suggesting that it was headed to Steam.

Having it available only from their store instead of grasping an already massive base via Steam is stupid.

Also, saying they won't do a remake until they've bettered it is a little retarded, considering it's generally heralded as the best, and nothing since (maybe excluding 9) has come close. Muppets.

"Cloud" saving lol. I see what they did there.

Well for me (and a lot of my friends) it needs to be released on Steam or it's no sale. I already have the game on PC (physical CD's) with some effort I could get it running.

Why would I want to subscribe to another online shop system just to buy this game?. I wouldn't.. nor would my friends.

Seriously developers / publishers, your too late for your online shop ideas, get on the steam train..
